Your Room
You can have your own key to your bedroom door. We undertake to provide facilities, in all the bedrooms, whereby you can secure your smaller possessions.
Your bedroom will be furnished and equipped with towels and bed linen.
Your room will be cleaned each day.
There is a call bell system in each room and communal area from which you can summon help in an emergency. A member of staff will show you how this system works.
Personal Care
Staff will assist you with your personal care needs. Such assistance will be as agreed with you and appropriate to your particular requirements. Your ‘Key Worker’ will also be pleased to discuss with you what
help you might require when bathing and when you would like to have a bath. We
are happy to encourage your relatives to be involved with your personal care, if you so wish.
Privacy
Your right to privacy and confidentiality will be respected at all times. You have the right to see any information held by the Home, which relates to
you, on request to the Managers.
Your religious beliefs will be respected and we will do everything we
can to help you practice your religion.
Confidentiality
Personal information held about you will be treated with the utmost confidence. All staff are required to comply with the Home’s Confidentiality Policy. The Manager is the nominated Caldecott Guardian of information covered by the
Data Protection Act 1998. Where it is necessary to share confidential information
either within the clinical team or with another agency, for the effective care of the service user, an explanation as to the
reasons for the disclosure is given to the service user.
Safety and Well-Being
We want to ensure your safety and that of other service users, guests
and staff.
Please work with us to avoid situations, which may present a risk to yourself
or others. One area of particular concern involves manual handling. You will be shown how to move yourself – out of bed, for example. Our staff are highly trained in safe handling techniques and, wherever appropriate,
we will use a hoist or other aids to help move you. Don’t worry –
we will not ask you to do more than you are capable of, but we do appreciate your help and assistance.
Meals
Breakfast, Lunch, Tea and a light Supper will be provided for you, with
a choice of menu each day being offered by the Cook. If you have particular
dietary requirements or preferences, the Cook will be happy to discuss these with you.
In addition, there is regular provision of drinks, such as tea and coffee, made by staff. Should you wish to enjoy an alcoholic drink, subject to your care plan, this can be arranged. Alcoholic drinks need to be provided by the resident or their relatives, or
these can be purchased by the Home and added to your account.
Laundry
Currently, we undertake all of our personal laundry. Laundry is completed
on a daily basis. All clothes are washed correctly and we make sure any clothes that are stained, have the stains removed
before being returned to the clients. We also Iron all clothes and bedding to ensure the clients look tidy.
All residents are asked to arrange for their clothes to be marked before
admission so as to avoid possible loss of personal clothing. Nametags can
be supplied by the Home at a small charge.
Insurance
We would advise that you take out insurance for your personal effects. Many companies can arrange this and Age Concern also offer a policy. Please ask the Manager for details.
The Home does provide insurance cover for residents’ effects up
to the amount of £1000 and the Manager will be happy to discuss this with you.
The Home is not responsible, though, for the safety of your personal effects i.e. anything of value or money. If you have valuables for safekeeping, it would be preferable if your relatives take
care of them. If this proves impracticable, arrangements can be made with
the Managers to have the valuables locked in the Home’s office for safekeeping, and a receipt will be issued.
Activities
We are developing a range of activities, and would be interested in considering
any suggestions from Residents or their relatives. At present we offer
Sing-along afternoons; visiting performers, Art therapy, and Aromatherapy. A
monthly Communion Service is held at 3pm on the last Wednesday of the month.
Newsletter
The Home produces a quarterly newsletter, which is circulated to all residents
and their relatives.
Seeking Your Views
We
are always seeking to maintain and improve the quality of our services and the views of service users, relatives and visiting
professionals are essential in helping us to do this. The Managers at the
Home welcome comments of any nature from service users and others, acting on their behalf.
One way of doing this is by completing one of our questionnaires and returning it to the Managers. All responses will be treated in the strictest confidence.
